Only DFA can pack more bang and wallop into 18 hours than you normally see at midnight at New Year!
Saturday, May 7 kicked off with a packed house before 9 a.m. at the Beverly Barnhart Theatre. This year’s Fine Arts Festival at Davidson topped all previous years as current students took to the stages and visual arts displays to showcase student projects and performances. Hundreds of family and faculty members walked the halls of DFA as they were delighted with the sights and sounds of the fine arts at their finest. For many alumni, this was their first time enjoying the festival as part of DFA’s first homecoming.
The Fine Arts Festival continued long into the afternoon, but the graduating Class of 1996 took themselves to the riverfront to celebrate their 20-year class reunion. That evening, the Class of 2006 partied in style at The Partridge Inn. Both classes eventually joined DFAAA’s Davidson artWISE Gala at the Augusta Museum of History for the first ever all-class reunion and homecoming event.
The gala hosted more than 200 guests for homegrown bites and beverages provided by Helms College culinary students and Augusta Locally Grown. There was dancing and singing, fellowship amongst alumni, parents, faculty and staff, as well as a tribute to those students and faculty who are no longer with us.
The evening would not have been possible if not for the financial and in-kind assistance of our partners and sponsors, including Atticus Creative, Presstech, Robertson Restoration, Blanchard & Calhoun and Georgia Bank & Trust. Davidson Fine Arts Alumni Association is grateful for your kindness and support.
