About Davidson Fine Arts Alumni Association

Davidson Fine Arts Alumni Association, Inc. (“DFAAA”) is a Georgia nonprofit corporation formed over three months at the end of 2015 by a group of fewer than a dozen Davidson Fine Arts School (“DFA”) alumni. DFAAA is currently pursuing 501(c)3 status with the IRS.

All costs associated with the formation of the organization have been funded 100% by the Board of Directors. DFAAA has secured its first donation for 2016 – an unsolicited donation by a retired faculty member who has asked to remain anonymous, to fund the first year’s costs for this membership website.

The mission of the Davidson Fine Arts Alumni Association is to promote the Davidson Fine Arts School spirit among alumni by providing rewarding opportunities to support the school and by encouraging alumni to remain connected with the fine arts, with DFA, and with each other.

The current DFAAA goals include:

  • Branding the Alumni Association as an organization responsive to the needs of alumni relative to their careers, desire for lifelong engagement with DFA and the arts, social interactions, and willingness to provide volunteer service and/or support to strengthen and advance the school;
  • Facilitating the first ever Davidson Homecoming Weekend and the Davidson artWISE Gala to bring alumni and the DFA Community together in fellowship and celebration of the arts in conjunction with DFA’s Fine Arts Festival on May 7, 2016;
  • Initiating donation opportunities for alumni and Richmond County-based business sponsors to establish an annual fund for a school grant program to provide special arts, academic and sports programming needs for students as required to sustain a quality arts education;
  • Establishing a paid alumni membership program with an online membership portal to develop an alumni database with alumni-to-alumni and DFAAA-to-member communications opportunities and updates;
  • Initiating the first-ever post-graduation education, career and lifestyle survey of DFA alumni to establish an understanding of arts education and county-sponsored magnet program outcomes; and,
  • Establishing a student/alumni mentorship program for both DFA high school students and college alumni. Additionally, establishing an internship program to educate high school students about arts- and arts alternative-career pathways and to assist college alumni in finding post educational career opportunities.
We are seeking donations from alumni and sponsorships from local and alumni-owned businesses to help us realize our organization’s goals. Great opportunities exist now to capitalize on promotional opportunities in conjunction with DFA Homecoming Weekend.
